What Was Fashion Like In New England During The Seventeenth Century?

I need to know what fashion was like for colonists in the northern New England colonies. The time frame is specifically 1630s to 1660s but information or web links around that approximate time would be appreciated. And my source has to be citable so I can’t use sites like wikipedia.

What Would You Like To See Changed In The Fashion Modeling Industry?

I am just curious as to what people would like to see changed in the fashion modeling industry. Model’s height? Weight, Body Image etc? And how would one go about to change that if they could?

I dont want to see anything changed. Fashion models are tall and thin because thats what looks best on the catwalk. Fashion shows wouldnt be half as elegant and artistic if there was everyday people on them… I wouldnt want to buy something thats going to cost alot of money if i saw a common looking person on it (lol) because I’d think that it would make me look like a common person.. and who just wants to be “common”??????????
people only say “i’d like it if models were shorter and heavier” because they think they could be a model if this was the case..lol… get over it..
Models are the way they are for a reason..
because they’re beautiful and fascinating and show off designers clothes in the best possible way.
If a company decided to use “Everyday” looking people no one would buy their products anymore.. Do you think anyone would buy D&G is a short obese woman was the model in the photoshoot for their ad??
I’m not being shallow.. im being realistic about the world, how advertising works and how it influences.
I love High fashion, I follow it religiously and I adore models & how they look presently. its about looking beautiful and unique and amazing – and I wouldnt want to change this!!!

I’d like to see more variety in terms of race and skin tone. Look at how many gorgeous tall Chinese models there are during Shanghai Fashion Week or gorgeous black models in Cape Town Fashion Week or gorgeous Indian models in Mumbai Fashion Week, but you rarely see them on the runways of the US or Europe.
I wouldn’t change the height requirement. It’s not about shorter girls looking good in clothes – Natalie Portman is only 5’1″ and looks amazing in clothes. But a runway is not to show off the model. It’s about showing off the workmanship and fabric of the clothes. A pair of trousers with a 36″ inseam are a lot more appealing on the runway than one with a 32″ inseam. A long dress cut for someone 5’11″ has a nicer line than one cut for someone who is 5’3″

Well the weight of course because I don’t think height matters as much and everyone always makes a big deal about anorexics and stuff. It would be better if they actually had some real average people as models and not just some dumb skinny bimbos. Also, most of the stuff they wear down the runway is just hideous! I mean come on are they serious? Is that really meant to be worn and to look good? Cuz some of the stuff just looks like silly costumes. And oh yeah they have some ugly models too. They need better looking people that they don’t have to put 20 pounds of make-up on to make them look good.

      height AND weight…
I think short people look really great in clothes too, and the average height in America is 5’4″ for women, so it’s just ridiculus for models to be almost 6 feet tall.
Weight is important too…. models today are either super thin, or big. never do you see in between… it’s great that larger models are there, but still, they’re in separate shows! Fashion shows and adds should have all heights and shapes involved, not have separated shows!

Height is ok, I mean whatev. Weight is the real problem.. no one (especially guys) likes the stick-thin b*tch body type. Women should have curves! And be fit, I mean…when was the last time you saw a high-fashion model with toned abs?

Body shape and weight, they expect everyone to b skinny and that drives girls insain (thats why there are bolimic and anorexic girls, cause they want to look ‘beautiful’ (if thats what u wanna call it) like the models)

Their weight and height. I mean common how many people are as skinny and tall as they are.
Get some real sized models on the catwalk!
