Go to a college that has fashion designing and the counselor will lay out a plan for you for what classes you need to take, how long it is going to take and etc. There are no courses in high school that you can take other than art class. No you will not have to take those subjects every year of your high school, it is based on a semester so like three months, until you graduate. Good luck!

What Are The Academic Requirements For Fashion Design Schools?

When I’m out of high school I would like to attend a school for fashion design in Toronto and later open a clothing store.
What are the academic requirements? (high school course wise)
I was curious because I’m not very good at classes such as science and math so I was wondering if I could drop down to applied next year and still be eligible to attend a school for fashion.
Thank you so so much (:

Not so sure about what you need in America, but in the UK, you need mostly As and you need to have taken Art and gotten a high grade in, maths and science aren’t really that necessary. You also need a portfolio of examples of your work (like sketches and swatches for things and it’s always best to try and make one of your designs to show that you can) and most schools for art like it if you have some sort of life experience. You should email or phone or go to the open days of schools that you want to go to just to make sure what you need, it’s better to do that because it shows the professors that your seriously interested in this and to make sure that they offer a fashion design course (you have to go to art school and specialize in design, so you should probably build up an expressive (portraits and still life drawings etc.) and if your wanting to open a shop you should take maths in high school and maybe start looking at little courses in business at college and working in the kind of shops that you would want day want to own just to gain experience and knowledge in that field.
      Good luck :)

What Careers Require A Bachelors Degree, But No Experience In A Particular Field?

My husband is looking to change professions out of Accounting, but he has a Bachelors Degree.

Before your husband goes switching jobs, he might want to spend some time deciding what he wants to be when he grows up. Get some career counseling and do some research on different occupations before switching. If you are in the same city where he graduated college, check with the university to see what’s availabe through their Career Placement Office… they will usually work with alumni.
Then have him think about all the “transferrable” skills he can bring to a new occupation so that when he writes his new resume or begins to interview he can talk about how he can bring those to his new career (good with details, team player, etc.)
Statistics show that many people change CAREERS up to 5 times in a lifetime… he is one of many who have been successful!

Many careers appreciate the degree at the entry level and above that. The degree is going to help him get a job anywhere (no matter how old it is). Begin applying at large corporations with decent health benefits. He’ll get a job. Very important thing however; don’t quit his current job until he has been hired for the new one. Good luck

Out side of accounting he could get a job teaching math (usually colleges in an adjunct possition), thats basicly it unless he has some other minor or certificate of mastery to back up his Bachelors Degree.
